Development and validation of a learning-engagement scale for high-school AI courses
International Journal on Digital Learning Technology 16(2), 51–78, 2024
About
Science-education PhD. Teaching AI since 2019, and shipping AI products for real.
I study why people choose to learn and adopt new technology, then put that into courses, teacher communities, and products that actually ship.

pre-test meanpost-test mean
learning achievement, out of 100
N = 315 matched pairs | t = −33.5 | p < .001
Also rose significantly: motivation, cognitive, emotional and behavioural engagement, perceived usefulness
Note: N = 319 respondents, paired-samples t-test; single-camp pre/post design without a control group.
02 / What I do
AI talks, teacher training, semester courses. From a school-wide first lesson on AI to coaching teachers through their own AI lesson plans.
Representative case:Taichung Girls' Senior High School elective on AI and data science, two semesters, formally commissioned by the school
Why do students choose to learn AI? Building reliable scales that turn acceptance into something measurable and improvable.
Representative case:Doctoral thesis: an acceptance model for AI courses among high-school students
One person plus three AIs, shipping Flutter apps, AI agents and websites, and putting generative AI to work in the hosiery industry.
Representative case:PEAKSTW (iOS + Android), SockMap knitting-pattern tool (ITRI)
03 / Where
High schools, universities, teacher communities, industry and foundations. Full track record and topics on the speaking page.
04 / Education
Focus: AI in education. Thesis: an acceptance model for AI courses among high-school students
Foundations in mathematical modelling, statistics and data analysis; minor in computer science.
Capstone project, a virtual try-on system, took first place in the cohort competition.
05 / Experience
AI products, curriculum development and teaching. Flutter apps, AI agents, web systems and industrial AI adoption.
Technical lead for the MOEA SBIR project on generative-AI hosiery design; ITRI knowledge-base assistant (RAG).
Youth innovation and future-education initiatives.
Designed a K-12 AI curriculum, ran teacher training and school partnerships; co-developed and recorded a six-volume AI textbook series and co-authored Volume 1 (Machine Learning).
STEM course and lesson design; data collection, analysis and writing for Prof. Hsiao-Lin Tuan's MOST project (108-2511-H-018-004-MY3).

07 / Off the podium
I have walked Taiwan's 240 rail stations, climb its 100 peaks, and build products as one person with three AIs. None of it is a credential, but it explains why everything I make starts with the question: does it actually help?
